Man killed in Mymensingh AL infighting
An activist of ruling Awami League was killed and 10 others injured in a clash between rival factions of the party in Mymensingh's Trishal today.
The deceased was identified as Saiful Mollah, 40, son of Nasir Uddin Mollah of Balipara in the upazila, reports our local correspondent.
There was a long standing dispute between Golam Mohammad Badal, Balipara Union's AL AL and its chairman, and Md Abdul Bari, Jubo League convener of the union, Md Moniruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Trishal Police Station, said quoting locals.
Supporters of both groups locked in a clash at railway station area at noon. Sharp weapons were yielded. About 11 people were injured. Saiful died on the way to hospital.
On information, police rushed to the spot and fired several rounds blank shots to disperse the clashing groups, the OC said. Additional police have been deployed in the area.
The body is being kept at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
