Madrasa boy dies in land feud
A madrasa student was hacked to death allegedly by one of his neighbours over previous feud at Chalitabuniya village in Morelganj upazila of the district on Saturday.
The deceased, Al-Amin Sheikh, 17, son of Hossain Ali Sheikh of the village, was a student of Olamaganj NU Alim Madrasha.
Police arrested Kohinoor Begum, 47, wife of Abul Kazi, and their daughter Poli Khatun, 20, early yesterday for their alleged involvement in the killing, said Officer-in-Charge Rashedul Islam of Morelganj Police Station.
Deceased's elder brother Tajul Sheikh said there had been a feud between his father Hossain Ali and their neighbour Abul Kazi over the ownership of a disputed land.
As a sequel to the enmity, Abul's son Jewel Kazi swooped on Al-Amin with a machete and hacked him indiscriminately while he was going to his madrasa around 8:00pm.
Locals rushed Al-Amin to Morelganj Upazila Health Complex where he succumbed to his injuries due to profusely bleeding around 10:00pm.
Tajul said about a month ago, in a bid to implicate them in a false case, Abul Kazi filled a case against his family members for abducting his daughter Poli.
Police produced Kohinoor and Poli before a court yesterday that sent them to the jail, the OC added.
