Lightning kills 3 of a family in Noakhali

Three members of a family were killed by lightning in Musapur Union under Companiganj upazila of the district yesterday.

The deceased were identified as Md Saidul Haque, 35, his wife Laizu Begum, 25, and their son Himel, 2, of Dhanshalik village under Kabirhat upazila of the district.

Shaheen Chowdhury, Chairman of Musapur Union Parishad, said Saidul along with his wife and son was going to his father-in-law's house in Char Fakira Union on a motorcycle to attend the marriage ceremony of his sister-in-law.

When they reached Masapur area at around 1:45pm, a thunderbolt hit them. They died on the spot.

Away in Barisal, a farmer was killed by lightning at Chandipur village under Babuganj upazila of the district yesterday noon, reports our correspondent.

The deceased was identified as Abu Akand, 45, of the village. Locals said Akand was struck by a thunderbolt while he was returning home with cows from a field in the area at around1:00pm.
