Khagrachhari journos seek security of life
Thirty-five journalists of the hill district yesterday sought security of their lives alleging that the mayor of Khagrachhari and his men threatened to kill them.
They filed a General Diary (GD) with Khagrachhari Police Station in this regard.
Journalists formed a human chain at Shapla Chattar in Khagrachhari town under the banner of Khagrachhari Peshajibi Sangbadik, demanding an impartial enquiry and punishment to the mayor and his men who tortured Nirob Chowdhury, a photojournalist of leading Bengali daily Prothom Alo.
The speakers at the programme alleged that some men of the mayor picked up Nirob from Rajjyamoni para where he was taking pictures and took him to the Khagrachhari municipality office where Mayor Rafiqul Alam physically tortured him and took his signature on a white paper.
