Injured Ansar man dies in Dhaka

An Ansar member who was allegedly injured by smugglers in Benapole land port area on November 15 died at a Dhaka hospital early today.

Firoz, 25, succumbed to his injuries at United Hospital in the capital's Gulshan area around 4:00am, police said.

He was shifted to United Hospital last night from Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where he received treatment after sustaining injuries.

The victim came under the attack as he seized some smuggled goods from alleged smuggler Ripan Hossain and his men at Benapole land port, our Benapole correspondent reports quoting police.

The alleged smugglers beat up Firoz with iron rods and sticks at night following the seizure of smuggled goods.

His body was kept at DMCH morgue.
