Huge stash of yaba seized in Teknaf

Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 6.91 lakh pieces of yaba tablets, worth Tk 20 crore, from a boat in Anwara upazila of Teknaf upazila in Cox's Bazar early today.

This is the highest number of the contraband drug seized in a single drive so far, our Cox's Bazar correspondent reports quoting BGB sources.

A patrol team of BGB recovered the drugs from the boat during a drive in the Naf river around 4:00am.

Sensing the presence of BGB men, the alleged smugglers fled the scene. No one could be arrested during the recovery.

The pills will be destroyed later.
