Govt to train expatriate workers to create skilled workforce: expat minister
Expatriates' Welfare Minister Imran Ahmad said the government has taken the initiative to provide training to Bangladeshi migrant workers currently living abroad with an aim to create skilled workforce.
The minister said this during a virtual ceremony marking the inaugural of a culinary training programme for Bangladeshi expatriates in Greece, said a press release.
Addressing the event as chief guest, Imran said the training programme is primarily being arranged in Greece while the ministry has plans to arrange training programmes in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain as well.
"Newer courses will be included in the training programme for expatriates in future," he said.
He urged Bangladeshi migrant workers living abroad to undergo training programmes to become skilled and uphold Bangladesh's positive image abroad.
Expatriates' Welfare Ministry Secretary Ahmed Munirus Saleheen, Bangladesh Ambassador in Greece Ashud Ahmed, and President and Managing Director of the Greek training institute IEK Delta, Alexandra Karantali, among others, addressed the virtual programme, the release informed.
