Fog disrupts Shimulia-Kawrakandi ferry service

Ferry services on Shimulia-Kawrakandi route in the Padma river were disrupted following dense fog for around six hours.

Later at 9:30am today, the services were resumed after being shut down for around six hours, said Giasuddin Patwari, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Shimulia.

Nine ferries stayed motionless in the middle of the river.

Passengers suffered most as around 100 vehicles had to be kept waiting on both sides of the river.
