Father kills son over trivial matter in Patuakhali

A man killed his son at Islambag village under Galachipa municipality area of the district yesterday.

The deceased, Hasib Alam, 14, who took part in the recently concluded JSC (Junior School Certificate) examination from Galachipa High School, was son of Mohammad Lavlu of the village.

Police arrested Lavlu from Galachipa Upazila Health Complex premises for killing the boy, said Officer-in-Charge Abdur Razzak of Galachipa Police Station.

Quoting locals, Sub-inspector Mohammad Babul of the police station said an altercation took place between Lavlu and his wife Shamsunnahar over a trifling matter around 8:00am.

At one stage, Lavlu hit Hasib with a hummer on his head while he was asleep, leaving him critically injured.

Villagers took Hasib to Galachipa Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead, the SI added.

Police produced the arrestee before a court in the evening that sent him to the jail, the OC said.
