Fake shaman, aide rape 2 schoolgirls

A case has been filed against a fake shaman and his two accomplices on charge of raping a schoolgirl at Chandai village in Baraigram upazila of the district.

The fake shaman, Akil Ahmad, 45, son of Abdul Bari of Chandai village, massaged oil on the naked body of a Class IX girl student of a local school, assuring her that the process will solve the misunderstanding with her boyfriend, said Shahriar Khan, officer-in-charge of Baraigram Police Station.

"Akil later and captured the video with the help of neighbour Ranju and forced her to have physical relation, saying that he will publish the video online if she declines. Ranju also raped the girl several times.

"Later Akil and Ranju raped another girl and videoed the scene.

"Recently both the girls declined to continue being such victim and Akil spread the video on Youtube and other social media.

"Seeing the video, agitated locals vandalised Akil's house on Wednesday afternoon while Akil and Ranju managed to flee.

"The victim's father lodged a case with Baraigram Police Station yesterday accusing Akil and Ranju of rape and Taslima Begum on charge of tempting his daughter to go to Akil," the OC said.

The father said his daughter was too scared to report the matter earlier as the fake shaman had told her that she would instantly die if she tells it to anyone.

"Akil is engaged in cheating people in the name of spiritual healing. We want his exemplary punishment," said local union parishad Chairman Anisur Rahman.
