Driver hacked to death in Noakhali

Unidentified criminals shot and then hacked to death a CNG driver in Ovirampur village in Amanullahpur union under Begumganj upazila of the district yesterday.

The deceased was Md Jewel, 28, son of late Anwar Hossain of the village.

Police and locals said a gang of 10 to 12 criminals shot Jewel and then hacked him while he was returning home after keeping his CNG in the garage yesterday.

One Sohel tried to save Jewel, but the miscreants hacked him too.

Jewel and Sohel were taken to a private hospital, where the duty doctor declared Jewel dead.
