Current nets seized

A mobile court in a drive seized 5000 metres of illegal current nets from different shops in Bhandaria upazila headquarters on Sunday. Tipped off, a mobile court led by Bhandaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ruhul Kuddus raided different fishing gear selling shops around 6:00pm and seized the nets from three shops, said Anil Chandra Das, upazila fishery officer in Bhandaria. However, no one was arrested in this connection. Later, the seized nets were burnt at the premises of upazila land office in the evening, said Kamruzzaman Talukdar, officer-in-charge of Bhandaria Police Station.
