Convict escaped from DMCH recaptured
A convicted criminal who escaped from a toilet at the outdoor department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital on November 29, was rearrested this morning in Keraniganj, on the outskirts of Dhaka.
Acting on a tip-off, Sohel, 40, was captured by a team of prison guards around 5:18am area from Nurerchar area, also the village home of the convict, Senior Jail Super of Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj Jahangir Kabir told The Daily Star.
Sohel, who was serving a two-year imprisonment in a narcotics case since October 14, filed with South Keraniganj police, escaped through the ventilator of the toilet.
He was admitted on November 28 with urine infection under the supervision of jail guards Aziz and Nazrul, who were suspended for their negligence in duty.
After the arrest, Sohel has been taken to Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj where he will serve the rest of his jail sentence, Jahangir Kabir said.
