Bus strike withdrawn

The bus strike on Chittagong-Khagrachhari road was withdrawn on Tuesday after three days of its enforcement following a clash involving members of three transport workers' associations. SM Shafi, secretary of Khagrachhari Bus-Minibus Owners' Association, said the strike was called off following a negotiation among Khagrachhari Bus-Minibus Workers' Association, Hathazari Transport Workers' Union and Nazirhat Transport Workers' Union. On Thursday, transport workers of Khagrachhari locked in a clash with those of Hathazari and Nazirhat over a trifling matter. Following the incident, plying of buses on the route came to a halt on Sunday morning.
