Body to probe death in custody
A three-member probe body was formed on Monday night to investigate death of arrestee Sohel Rana in police custody in Melandah upazila of the district on Sunday.
The probe body, headed by Additional Superintendent of Police Rounak Jahan, has been asked to submit its report within seven working days.
Fish farmer Sohel, 32, son of Rehan Ali of Paharipatal village in the upazila, died hours after he was arrested from his house on Sunday afternoon with some drugs.
Victim's family members alleged that Sohel died due to inhuman custodial torture and they demanded that the authorities concerned bring the culprits to book.
