Bangladeshi fisherman held by Myanmar border cops in Teknaf

Members of Myanmar Border Guard Police (BGP) allegedly detained a Bangladeshi fisherman in Naf river of Teknaf of Chittagong and took him to their side of the border today.

The detained fisherman is Sona Mia Prokash Khadem, 35, son of Nazir Ahmed, from Daskhin Phuler Dale under Nila union of Teknaf Police Station.

Later, Khadem called his wife in Teknaf and informed her about his detention by Myanmar law enforcers, our Cox's Bazar correspondent reports quoting his family members.

Maj Abu Russel Siddique, second-in-command of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB)'s battalion-2, told the correspondent that they have heard about the matter and were trying to reach the BGP.

BGP members detained Khadem at Chowdhuripara point in the river after he went there on a small boat for fishing, his wife and elder brother said.
