Attack on Hindus: Tk 1 lakh bounty on arsonists
Authorities today declared Tk 1 lakh bounty on information leading to capture of the culprits who "are secretly setting Hindu homes on fire" in Brahmanbaria's Nasirnagar.
The bounty is being announced through loud speakers across Nasirnagar, where the Hindu community is passing petrified days in face of the spate of hate attacks on them.
"Miscreants are secretly torching Hindu property," said Mizanur Rahman, superintendent of district police. "Tk 1 lakh will be awarded on information leading to their capture."
Police have offered anonymity to the informants and have asked to call them up at these numbers: +8801713373724, +8801713373725, +8801713373727, and +8801713373733.
It started with an alleged Facebook post that triggered Islamists to vandalise at least five Hindu temples and ransack over a hundred houses of the minority group on October 30.

Later, several other attacks were carried out periodically where houses of the Hindu community were set fire to. The latest incident of such arson was yesterday.

While the intent of the attack was claimed to drive Hindus from their land, blames have been put on two Islamist outfits which rallied in Nasirnagar moments before the attack on October 30.

The spate of attack has sparked widespread flak all over the society. Protests over the repeated attacks have poured in from all corners of Bangladesh.
