93 passports seized

Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested an alleged passport broker along with 93 passports and huge copies of official documents from Rajbari district town on Monday.

The arrestee, Nitai Kundu, 56, son of Orbinda Kundu, is a resident of Khankhanapur area in Rajbari Sadar upazila.

Sub-inspector Kamal Hossain of Rajbari DB police said a team of detectives, acting on a tip-off, conducted a drive at Nitai's house around 4:30pm and arrested him.

During the drive, the law enforcers also seized 93 passports, several passport forms, birth certificates, national identity cards (NID) and other necessary documents from the possession of the arrestee, SI Kamal said.

Quoting the arrestee, police said Nitai is a member of a broker gang, which illegally prepares passports for the passport seekers with the help of some corrupt employees and officials of Rajbari Regional Passport Office in exchange of money.
