4 killed in ‘cop firing’ in Narsingdi clash
Four people, including a teenage boy, were killed reportedly in police firing during a clash between two groups of ruling Awami League over establishing supremacy in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi today.
Around 50 people including several police men were also injured in the clash that took place at Sonakandi village of the upazila around 10:00am, reports our local correspondent.
The deceased were identified as Mamun, 23, Khokon, 35, Manik Mia, 40, and Shahjahan, 40.
Officer-in-Charge (investigation) of Raipura Police Station Mazharul Islam said there had been enmity between the two groups - one led by Awami League-backed incumbent chairman of Nilokkhya Union and the other by Abdul Haque, former chairman of the union -- over establishing control in the area.
