12 robbers surrender in Barisal
A gang of 12 robbers including its kingpin surrendered and handed over 22 firearms to law enforcers in presence of Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan at Rab-8 headquarters in Barisal today.
They are the members of Sundarbans-based robber gang "Khokababu Bahini", our Barisal correspondent reports quoting Rab sources.
The alleged robbers along with their leader Kabirul Islam alias Khokababu surrendered along with 22 firearms and 1,303 rounds of bullets around 11:30am.
Continuous drives by the law enforcers depleted the strength of the gang that compelled them to surrender, sources at Rab-8 said.
"The robbers who have surrendered today (Monday) will be rehabilitated if they are not accused of murder and rape," Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said while speaking at the occasion.
He also said, "We are trying to bring them to normal life."
Awami League lawmakers Abul Hasanat Abdullah, advocate Talukdar Md Yunus and Jebunnessa Afroj and Rab Director General Benazir Ahmed, among others, were present at the occasion.
