3 killed in ‘gunfight’ in Feni, Jessore

Three people including two alleged robbers were killed in separate "gunfights" with law enforcers in Feni and Jessore early today.

In Feni, a patrol team of Rapid Action Battalion conducted a drive in Lalpol area while the robbers were taking preparation to commit robbery on a nearby highway around 2:45am, triggering a "gunfight", said a text message of Rab received this morning.

At one stage, two robbers caught in the line of fire and died on the spot.

The law enforcers also recovered firearms, explosives and sharp weapons from the spot, the message read.

In Jessore, a listed criminal was shot dead in a reported gunfight between two groups of criminals at Kholadanga area early Friday.

The victim was identified as Hafizur Rahman, 35, a listed criminal of Sasthitala area of the town.

Tipped off about a gunfight in the area, a police team went to the spot around 1:30am and recovered the bullet-hit body of Hafizur, said officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station Ilias Hossain.

The deceased Hafizur was wanted in a number of cases, the OC said.
