A Dhaka court yesterday remanded two doctors and the director of Asian Cardiac General Hospital for two days each following an allegation that three newborns died there due their negligence on Friday.

The order came after police produced Dr Shishir Ranjan Das, Dr Aftab Uddin and the director Abdullah Al Ahad before the court with a five-day remand prayer. They were shown arrested under section 54 as no victim families file a case, said Jamal Uddin Mir, officer-in-charge of Mohammadpur Police Station.

The four-storey hospital in Block-B of Lalmatia was sealed as it was found running without any government approval.
