1,500 female students receive free healthcare at Cucsu medical camp
Around 1,500 female students received free healthcare services at a medical camp organised by the Chittagong University Central Students' Union (Cucsu) with the support of Chattogram Metropolitan Hospital at the Chittagong University (CU) today.
The camp was held at the university's Buddhijibi Chattar from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
Students received consultations from specialist physicians in four disciplines: medicine, nutrition, gynaecology, and dermatology. Necessary medicines were also provided free of charge based on doctors' prescriptions.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr AKM Fazlul Haque, managing director of Chattogram Metropolitan Hospital.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Cucsu Vice-President Ibrahim Hossain Rony. CU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Mohammad Al-Amin attended as the chief guest, while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof Md Shafiqul Islam and Amena Shaheen, a member of the hospital's board of directors, were present as special guests.
Prof Al-Amin said, “The university's existing healthcare facilities cannot meet every medical need. Timely treatment for female students' health issues is particularly important.”
Cucsu Vice-President Rony said, “We have to carry out the responsibilities entrusted to us by the students with honesty and accountability."
