115 students complete training at Bangladesh’s first college-based Career Center under BYLC

The country’s first Career Center among National University-affiliated colleges was established at Lalmatia Government Mohila College under the National University Employability Reform Initiative (NUERI), a joint initiative of Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC), National University, and Lalmatia Government Mohila College. A total of 115 students have completed their training at the Career Center. They received their certificates at a graduation ceremony held at the college auditorium on August 17.

The Career Center was launched in August 2025 to develop the skills, confidence, and leadership capabilities students need to prepare for their careers.

Speaking as the chief guest, National University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah said, “BYLC signed the first memorandum of understanding (MoU) with National University. That journey has now led to more than 200 MoUs. We must reach educational institutions in rural and remote areas, where much potential remains hidden due to a lack of opportunities.”

He further stated that career centres would not be limited to preparing students for employment. They would also play an effective role in developing students’ communication skills, language proficiency, leadership, teamwork, problem-solving abilities, creativity, and other essential competencies.

Also present at the event were Ms Alexandra Khlevnoy, First Secretary of the Russian Embassy in Dhaka and Director of the Russian House; Mohammad Habibullah Tamim, Acting In-Charge and Senior Manager at BYLC; Prof. Sultana Mahmuda Yasmin, Principal of Lalmatia Government Mohila College; Dr Bilkis Begum, Vice Principal of the college; Raz Bin Kashem, Director of the International Desk at National University; senior BYLC officials; teachers and students of the college; and invited guests. The Vice-Chancellor presented certificates to the students who completed the training.
