The Award Winning Innovations of

National Hackathon 2016

National Hackathon 2016, organized by ICT Division, came to an end after the announcement of the top ten teams. This year's hackathon had one simple objective: to come up with innovative solutions to tackle the ten Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). After staying glued to the computer screen and writing thousands of lines of codes for 36 hours straight, the top teams came up with the most innovative ways to solve the SDGs. In today's issue of Bytes we are showcasing the winning solution in each category:

Name of the app: Mom & Baby Care
Description: This nifty app is going to bring  health services to people (Specially Pregnant Women, Infant) by ensuring effective use of health-workers, providing timely health tips and establishing communication between users & health workers.

Name of the portal: Connecting Teachers
Description: Through this unique portal teachers from urban & rural areas will be able to connect and share their experiences .They will be able to solve any problems through sharing and will remain up-to-date about any latest news regarding education. The teachers can upload and download educational contents, files etc through the online library feature. The portal is also supposed to have options for video calling, group messaging  and a notice board section.

Name of the app: Dishari
Description: Dishari, which means 'guide' in Bengali, is an app for the fishermen of Bangladesh. This app can pinpoint locations of all fishermen connected via the same app for collaborative teamwork. This app also provides a video feed on proper fishing techniques, information on microloans, and first aid procedures. In addition to that it works as a platform to connect local buyers and fishermen to book and order their products and support each other's businesses. Certainly this could be a game changer in the coastal communities here.

Name of the app: Shocheton
Description: As the name suggests, this app is here to create awareness and resolve problems for a cleaner city. Users will be able to find nearby public toilets, trash cans in the  map with directions. Users can post complaints related to various pollution or submit requests if the available facilities are not adequate.

Description: Through this app when an end customer buys a product, the shop manager sends the vat registration number, invoice id, consumer ID and bill without VAT to the government site. Then the consumer will get notification that the VAT of their product has been cleared by the govt.

Description: This system directs the excess energy produced by the solar panels to a substation. As a result up to 17% energy can from a 500W solar panel. Imagine the impact that this setup can bring.
