Bangladeshi manufacturers and exporters have discussed ways to move beyond contract manufacturing and develop their own retail brands in the United States at an executive workshop in Dhaka.

The half-day workshop, titled Bangladeshi manufacturer to US retail brand owner, was jointly organised by Business Globalizer and Sky Prep Center. It brought together 57 manufacturers, exporters, entrepreneurs and business owners from across Bangladesh.

Organisers said the event focused on how local manufacturers could establish independent retail brands in the US through strategic planning, company formation, logistics, fulfilment and marketplace preparation.

The programme featured six structured sessions and a guest session covering product validation, US market entry, retail pricing, warehousing, compliance and execution strategies. Participants were also given a roadmap for developing a US retail business and access to post-workshop consultation.

Abdullah Al Mamun, lead consultant of Business Globalizer and co-founder of Sky Prep Center, led the main sessions. Guest speakers Nur Islam, Abid Azad Khan and Md Soyaib Ali Sheikh shared insights on logistics, manufacturing and cross-border e-commerce.

Speaking at the event, Mamun said manufacturing remained a key strength for Bangladeshi businesses, but added that companies also needed to focus on reaching consumers under their own brands.

He said the initiative aimed to help Bangladeshi businesses reduce the time and cost barriers involved in entering international retail markets.
