Stamford University holds seminar on BAC application preparation

Stamford University Bangladesh organised a seminar on Bangladesh Accreditation Council (BAC) application preparation on January 15 as part of its efforts to strengthen quality assurance and accreditation readiness.

The programme was arranged by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell at the university’s Siddeswari campus, says a press release.

The seminar followed an earlier workshop on BAC membership and the accreditation process, reflecting the university’s continued focus on improving academic standards and institutional credibility.

Vice-Chancellor Md Younus Mia attended the programme as chief guest. Emeritus Professor M Feroze Ahmed and Treasurer Mohammad Jeaul Hasan were present as special guests. In their remarks, they underlined the importance of accreditation in ensuring accountability, enhancing academic quality and strengthening the university’s national standing.

The session was facilitated by Azizul Haque, director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell; Subrata Chowdhury, additional director (quality assurance); and Tamanna Zerin, additional director (education, training and learning). They outlined the structure and requirements of the BAC application, with a focus on strategic planning, documentation and operational readiness.

Participants included members of the Quality Assurance Committee, deans of various faculties, chairs of 14 academic departments and Programme Self-Assessment Committee members from five departments. Their presence ensured active engagement and discussion closely linked to departmental responsibilities.

During the seminar, facilitators explained the BAC assessment procedure in a structured manner, highlighting the importance of evidence-based reporting, consistent academic practices and coordinated documentation. Common challenges in accreditation preparation were also discussed through practical examples.

An open discussion session allowed participants to raise questions and share experiences, helping to strengthen coordination between departments and quality assurance bodies.

The seminar concluded with a shared commitment to a systematic and collaborative approach towards BAC application preparation, reinforcing Stamford University Bangladesh’s drive for continuous improvement and academic excellence.
