115 students of South Point School & College selected for scholarships
A total of 115 students from South Point School & College have been selected for scholarships in the Junior Scholarship Examination-2025 under the Dhaka Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education.
The principal of the institution, Colonel Md. Shamsul Alam, PSC (Retd.), said students received scholarships in two categories: Talent Pool (Merit Scholarship) and General Scholarship.
Among them, 40 students were nominated for the Talent Pool scholarship and 75 students for the General category, says a press release.
South Point School & College conducts academic activities in six areas of the capital - Malibagh, Baridhara, Banani, Mirpur, Uttara and Shyampur.
The Banani branch follows an international English-medium curriculum. Students from the other five branches took part in the scholarship examination. From these branches, 115 students were nominated for scholarships.
Branch-wise results show:
- From the Malibagh branch - 62 students were selected, including 27 in the Talent Pool and 35 in the General category.
- From the Baridhara branch - 22 students were selected, including 6 in the Talent Pool and 16 in the General category.
- From the Mirpur branch - 21 students were selected, including 6 in the Talent Pool and 15 in the General category.
- From the Uttara branch - 7 students were selected in the General category.
- From the Shyampur branch - 3 students were selected, including 1 in the Talent Pool and 2 in the General category.
South Point School & College has recorded strong results in board examinations and scholarship examinations over the years.
In the Junior School Certificate (JSC) Examination-2019 results, South Point School & College secured first position in Gulshan Thana in Dhaka.
The institution also recorded strong results in scholarship examinations. Last year, among the 85 scholarship recipients in Gulshan Thana, 75 were from South Point. Among them, 18 students received scholarships in the Talent Pool category.
In the Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Junior School Certificate (JSC) examinations in 2019, a total of 1,354 students from South Point took part. All students passed and 856 achieved GPA-5, about 63 percent of the total examinees.
The institution reports that the rate of GPA-5 holders usually remains between 80 and 90 percent each year.
South Point School & College began its journey in 2002 with 200 students. The institution now has nearly 20,000 students.
The institution also records strong results in the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations. In most years, almost no students fail. Students from the institution also perform well in competitive university admission tests.
