Seylon Tea organises ‘Amar Shohor-Chattogram’
Seylon Tea hosted a campaign, titled “Seylon Amar Shohor–Chattogram”, at the Navy Convention Centre in Chattogram on Thursday, celebrating the city’s history, heritage, culture, food and lifestyle.
More than 50 content creators, actors and actresses, including actress Sabila Nur, Samira Mahi, SP Creation, Rezve Ahmed, Bengali Boin, Sampod and Zishan, participated in the event.
The event showcased familiar and lesser-known stories of Chattogram, including its landmarks, architecture, port and railway heritage, music, culture and everyday life.
As part of the campaign, Seylon Tea encouraged residents to share their stories and memories of the city. It also introduced a specially designed tea pack featuring elements inspired by Chattogram’s heritage.
The brand launched a digital activation inviting people to share their personal experiences of the city.
The campaign drew strong participation, with weekly winners selected from the entries. Winners chosen through a final lottery were invited to the event and received special prizes.
Guests experienced stories of “Old Chattogram”, its heritage, architecture, port and railway, local culture, music and lifestyle through interactive showcases.
The city’s distinctive food culture was also highlighted through Mezban, Bella biscuit, tea-time adda and local delicacies.
The programme also featured the “Seylon Amar Shohor Special Personality Award”, given to six eminent personalities for their contributions to Chattogram’s identity, culture and society.
The honourees were journalist and editor MA Malek, journalist Abul Momen, architect Jerina Hossain, urban planner Engineer Delwar Hossain Majumder, playwright Ahmed Iqbal Haider, and writer and researcher Harun Rashid.
Brig Gen (retd) Shahidullah Chowdhury, executive director of Abul Khair Group, handed over the awards.
Mohammad Yusuf, general manager of sales and marketing of the company; Mohammad Shah Newaz Ahmed, general manager of supply chain; and Abul Khair of the consumer goods division, were also present.
