Bangladesh Eye Hospital marks World Glaucoma Awareness Week

Bangladesh Eye Hospital & Institute Limited observed World Glaucoma Awareness Week 2026 with a rally and a discussion programme.

World Glaucoma Awareness Week is observed every year during the second week of March to highlight the importance of glaucoma, says a press release.

The rally was held on Wednesday at 3:30pm, followed by a discussion at 4:00pm at the auditorium on Level 13 of the Rangs Eminence Building in Dhanmondi.

Professor Dr. Shafiqul Islam, president of the Bangladesh Glaucoma Society, and Dr. Shahnaz Hasan, secretary general of the Bangladesh Glaucoma Society, attended the programme as guests of honour.

Physicians, medical officers and officials of the institution were also present.

The programme was chaired by Professor M. Nazrul Islam, deputy managing director of Bangladesh Eye Hospital & Institute.

In his keynote speech, he highlighted the importance of glaucoma awareness, proper eye care and protection of vision. He also stressed the need to increase public awareness about eye health.

Bangladesh Eye Hospital & Institute said the observance reflects its efforts to promote awareness about glaucoma and eye health.
