Japanese envoy visits Yamaha factory in Gazipur
Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Shinichi Saida, along with representatives of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and Mitsui & Co Ltd, visited Yamaha Bangladesh’s factory in Rajabari, Gazipur last week.
The visit provided an opportunity for Yamaha Bangladesh and ACI Motors, the distributor of Yamaha motorcycles in Bangladesh, to showcase the company’s manufacturing capabilities and contribution to the country’s two-wheeler industry, according to a press release.
During the visit, the delegation observed the factory’s manufacturing operations and learned about Yamaha’s journey in Bangladesh.
By integrating Japanese technology, engineering standards, quality assurance systems and local expertise, Yamaha Bangladesh has been working to establish a world-class motorcycle manufacturing operation to meet the evolving needs of Bangladeshi consumers.
The delegation was also briefed on Yamaha’s broader journey in Bangladesh under ACI Motors.
Over the years, the company has strengthened its presence in the country by expanding its product portfolio, developing its manufacturing capabilities, investing in its workforce and dealer network, and introducing globally recognised Yamaha technologies and products to the Bangladeshi market.
Speaking on the significance of the visit, ACI Motors representatives said Yamaha’s presence in Bangladesh represented more than a business relationship. It also demonstrated how Japanese technology, management practices, quality standards and expertise could be combined with Bangladeshi talent and market knowledge to create sustainable industrial value.
The visit also highlighted the longstanding economic and industrial ties between Japan and Bangladesh.
Japan has played a significant role in Bangladesh’s economic development through investment, development cooperation, technology transfer, infrastructure development and private-sector engagement.
Japanese companies operating in Bangladesh have also contributed to employment generation, skills development, technology adoption and the expansion of modern manufacturing practices.
The presence of representatives from JETRO and Mitsui & Co Ltd alongside the Japanese ambassador further underscored the growing interest and collaboration between Japanese business institutions and Bangladesh’s private sector.
Such engagement could create opportunities for greater cooperation, investment and knowledge sharing, as well as the development of globally competitive manufacturing capabilities in Bangladesh.
Yamaha Bangladesh’s manufacturing journey reflects this broader potential, the release added.
By maintaining a strong focus on quality, operational excellence, innovation and customer satisfaction, the company aims to contribute further to the development of Bangladesh’s motorcycle industry while creating greater value for consumers and stakeholders.
