Sarwar made BB deputy governor

The Bangladesh Bank (BB) has appointed its Executive Director Md Sarwar Hossain as a deputy governor on a three-year contractual term, according to a government notification issued yesterday.

The Financial Institutions Division under the Ministry of Finance said the appointment was made under Article 10(4) of the Bangladesh Bank Order, 1972.

Sarwar will assume the post after voluntarily retiring from his current position as executive director. His post-retirement leave (PRL) has been suspended to facilitate the appointment.

He has been appointed for a three-year term from the date he joins as deputy governor, the notification said.

The remaining terms and conditions of his appointment will be determined through a contract.
