Fazlul Hoque becomes new administrator of FBCCI

Star Business Report

The commerce ministry has appointed Md Fazlul Hoque as the administrator of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI).

The ministry issued the order on July 26 under the Trade Organisations Act, 2022, a month after former administrator and senior additional secretary Md Abdur Rahim Khan was relieved of his duties with effect from June 27.

The appointment aims to ensure continuity in the FBCCI’s activities and keep the organisation compliant with the Trade Organisations Act, 2022, the Trade Organisations Rules, 2025, the Companies Act, 1994, and other relevant laws, according to the ministry.

The order directs Fazlul to hold a free, fair, and impartial election within 120 days and hand over charge to the newly elected board once the process is complete.

Fazlul is a former president of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association, a former director of the FBCCI, and managing director of Plummy Fashions Ltd.

After assuming office, Fazlul held an introductory meeting with FBCCI secretariat officials and employees, seeking their full cooperation in carrying out his responsibilities and completing the election within the government’s stipulated timeframe.
