With their thought-provoking and experimental production “Praay Tin/Chaar Jon”, Prochondo Collective offers a stark portrayal of the harsh realities faced by ordinary people under authoritarian regimes. The play examines how lives are lived and disrupted by the constant threat of extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detentions, state-enforced brutality, and the overall subjugation of the human spirit, which is surveilled and extinguished at will.

Bridging the past and the future, all artworks displayed in artist Ronni Ahmmed's solo exhibition, NOOR, radiate the mysticism of Sufism. With educational institutions in Bangladesh shifting their activities to virtual platforms in the wake of Covid-19, we caught up with some first-year undergraduates to find out about their experiences with distance learning, and their expectations once campuses reopen.

Author and journalist Sabrina Fatma Ahmad initiated Sehri Tales, a creative writing challenge, as a means to battle melancholia five years ago. Today, this challenge has become an anticipated event among many writers. The rules are quite simple: throughout the month of Ramadan, a prompt is given every night, participants must post their work online, following the 250 word limit and the deadline. 2021 was the third year that Sehri Tales was open to the public. This year’s participants shared their experiences with Star Youth, The Daily Star.

Marking Rabindranath Tagore’s 160th birth anniversary, Chhayanaut organised a virtual cultural programme. Titled Dhor Nirbhoy Gaan, the theme of the event was to hope, and to be brave. Artistes performed works by Tagore, which sing praise of life and the joy of living, bravery, and hope. The virtual concert featured musical performances, dances, poetry recitals and more. Today marks the 160th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore, the polymath who reshaped Bengali music and literature. Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) organised an online programme to celebrate the day.
