Star Online Report

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) today seized Tk 42 lakh from the bank account of former Cox's Bazar municipality councillor Javed Md Kaisar Nobel.

The ACC officials found the money in a private bank's Cox's Bazar branch, reports our local correspondent quoting Md Sharif Uddin, deputy assistant director of Chattogram Division, ACC.

Earlier on September 13, a team of ACC officials seized Tk 80 lakh in the first phase from the savings accounts of Javed at Cox's Bazar's Postal office.

On September 1, Tk 20 crore was seized from three separate personal accounts of Javed.

Four studio apartments, registered in Javed's name, were also seized by ACC officials.

Javed now is on the run, officials concerned said.

ACC sources said they inquired about the bank accounts and savings of 10 persons, including Javed, in connection with a land grabbing case registered with the Cox's Bazar deputy commissioner's office around two months ago. During investigation, they found illegal-acquired money in several accounts under Javed's name.

Later, ACC seized the money and apartments in three phases.
