MediaTek products might get costlier
MediaTek has signalled that prices for its products may rise as demand driven by artificial intelligence (AI) places growing strain on global supply chains, pushing up costs across the semiconductor industry, according to a recent report by Reuters.
Speaking during a recent quarterly earnings call, the company’s Chief Executive, Rick Tsai, said, “With AI serving as a catalyst for industry expansion and driving the surge in demand, the global supply chain is facing challenges in fully meeting the increasing needs in 2026, resulting in higher costs across the supply chain."
"We will also adjust our pricings to reflect the rising supply chain costs and allocate our supply across products based on the overall profitability," Tsai added, without elaborating, as per the Reuters report.
MediaTek has partnered with Nvidia to co-design the GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip, used in Nvidia’s DGX Spark personal AI supercomputer, which went on sale last year. Tsai said the company had seen strong market feedback for the product and expected MediaTek’s revenue growth to accelerate into 2026.
On February 4, the company reported fourth-quarter revenue of T$150.2bn ($4.76bn), an increase of 8.8 percent from a year earlier, while net income fell 3.6 percent to T$23.1bn. MediaTek shares have risen 26 percent so far this year, states the report.
