Handwriting-based social app Lettre reaches 100,000 organic downloads
Lettre, the handwriting-first social app, recently reached 100,000 organic downloads and is being featured by Apple on the App Store.
The app allows users to compose and send handwritten digital letters in any language using touch or Apple Pencil, connect with penpals around the world, and personalise their messages through digital stationery and collectable artist-created stamps. According to a press release by Lettre, a delayed delivery mechanic reinforces the anticipation and emotional value traditionally associated with physical mail.
Unlike traditional messaging platforms, Lettre operates without ads or algorithm-driven feeds, states the press release, which further adds that Apple’s App Store feature recognises Lettre’s distinctive design language, among other features.
The app follows a freemium business model. Core letter-writing and pen-pal functionality remain free, while in-app purchases offer premium stationery and limited-edition digital stamps. Furthermore, a subscription tier provides additional creative benefits and customisation options.
