The official promotional campaign for Mohammad Nuruzzaman’s “Mastul” has begun with the release of its first official poster, exactly one month ahead of the film’s theatrical debut on July 17. The poster was designed by Dhruba Esh.

The song “Amay Bhasaili Re” is originally written by poet Jasim Uddin. The song has been newly arranged by musician Labik Kamal Gaurob.

The director’s second feature film “Mastul” has been screened and praised at several international festivals, including the Moscow International Film Festival. The film received clearance for theatrical release in Bangladesh last year, but has yet to reach cinemas. Its release has been stalled due to financial constraints.

The director has received an official invitation to attend the festival and, all going well, plans to attend the festival.

“Mastul” has not been selected for the main competition at Kazan but for a special category.

The narrative centres on Maqbool, a compassionate cook portrayed by Fazlur Rahman Babu, who befriends Noora, a young stowaway. Their bond challenges the ship's hierarchy, particularly with a power-hungry helmsman who suspects Maqbool of espionage. The film explores themes of trust, compassion, and the complexities of human relationships.​
