AN ODE TO BOISHAKH

The days of sudden violent storms, pleasant sun-kissed evenings and scrumptious seasonal fruits are at our doorstep. While the storm and unbearable heat results in a tirade of complaints from all of us, Boishakh has also given our writers an occasion to write about the hope and positivity it brings along with it. They see the poetry of Mother Nature, as they write about the celebration of a new year while also lauding the human resilience against all the odds that life offers.

Boishakh's metaphors often include its hot winds and the arrival of Kalboishakhi as well as descriptions of the season where people look forward to prosperity and a fresh appreciation of life, a season where we hope for a better tomorrow.

This week's spotlight (pages 8-9) looks at how Boishakh has been portrayed in Bangla Literature over the years. Here's wishing all our readers a joyous Pohela Boishakh 1422!
