Tongi bridge breakage adds pressure on railways

Plaster broke off from a portion of the Tongi bridge of Dhaka-Mymensing highway last Tuesday. BRT authorities halted vehicular movement on the Dhaka-bound lane of the bridge for safety concerns.

As there are unbearable traffic jams in the area, Dhaka-bound passengers are using trains to commute, increasing the load on the railways.
