Plastic pollution out of control in Bangladesh
From cities to villages, to mountains to islands, one can find plastic -- and plastic pollution -- everywhere. In a report, published by the World Bank, it was mentioned that the usage of plastic has tripled in the last 15 years in the urban areas of Bangladesh. Due to a lack of plastic-waste management, Bangladesh has become one of the most polluted countries in the world.
What other information has the World Bank received about the management and use of plastics in Bangladesh? Why isn't it possible to control the use of plastics? Is it possible to implement a solution?
The Daily Star Reporter Moudud Ahmmed Sujan joins Farhana Ahmed in Straight from Star Newsroom to discuss the World Bank report and the overall plastic pollution in Bangladesh.
