NRCC listed them as river grabbers, district admin let them off the hook
Munshiganj district authority gave Three Angle Marine Limited the highest ranking on the list of river occupiers in 2019. It was mentioned that their shipbuilding and repair company occupied land adjacent to the Meghna and Fuldi rivers. Two years later, the same district administration reported that the company had never occupied any land of those rivers.
Earlier, the BIWTA and the National River Conservation Commission also referred to them as "river occupiers".
So how is the district administration getting completely different information now? How is there so much discrepancy between the information of Munshiganj district administration and NRCC?
Pinaki Roy, chief reporter of The Daily Star, talks to Debjani Shyama about the occupying of Meghna and Fuldi rivers and the position of Munshiganj district administration in Straight from Star newsroom.
