A massacre that began with two killings

Star Special

April 2, 1971. There was curfew all over the country. By 11:30 pm, a military jeep arrived at Suresh Kumar Pande's place in Rajshahi. Suresh came out hearing knocks on the door. A Pakistani soldier shot him while leaving after the conversation. Suresh was martyred.

The Pakistani army also killed Birendranath Sarkar, a lawyer, the same way that night -- starting a massacre in Rajshahi.

During 50th anniversary of Bangladesh's independence, Star Special recounts the story of genocide in Rajshahi.
