How the Bridge Authority 'mistakenly' filled up parts of Turag River
The Bangladesh Bridge Authority has filled up parts of the Turag River without taking permission from the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and claimed it was done mistakenly by a Chinese contractor.
A bridge authority director said they would ask for permission from the BIWTA if the filled up part of the river is needed back.
Why is the Turag River being grabbed by a government entity, when all the four rivers surrounding the capital are in a dire situation?
Will the National River Conservation Commission remain practically inactive similar to the cases of Meghna, Fuldi and Kuhelia?
In Straight from Star Newsroom, Naziba Basher discusses the filling up of parts of Turag River with The Daily Star Chief Reporter Pinaki Roy.
