Bangladesh to be replaced if stance on India travel stays unchanged: Reports
According to a report by ESPN Cricinfo, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has asked the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to relay to its government that if Bangladesh continues to refuse to travel to India for the upcoming T20 World Cup, also to be co-hosted by Sri Lanka, then they will be replaced by another team.
ESPN Cricinfo's report claimed that the BCB has been allocated one more day by ICC to revert its stance on traveling to India for the tournament, beginning on February 7.
The decision, as reported, was made following a vote where the "majority of the ICC Board was in favour of having a replacement."
It was reported earlier that Scotland could be the likely replacement if Bangladesh do not play the marquee T20 event.
The issue stemmed more than a fortnight ago, when Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman was released by Indian Premier League franchise Kolkata Knight Riders on January 3 on instructions from the Board of Control for Cricket in India.
On January 4, BCB, heeding the government's advice, informed the ICC that it would not be sending the national team to India for the T20 World Cup due to security reasons.
