Scotland beat Tigers in opening World Cup qualifier
Scotland have won the first Group B fixture against Bangladesh by six runs at the Al Amerat Cricket Stadium in Muscat today. Bangladesh's batting effort was largely subdued despite the fact that Scotland managed just 140 for 9 on a surface good for strokeplaying. The lower middle-order was left with too much to do in the end. Needing 32 off the last two overs, Nurul Hasan and Mahmudullah Riyad both departed in the 19th over. Saifuddin struck a four in the second delivery of the 20th over and Mahedi Hasan managed a four and a six off the fourth and fifth delivery but it was too little too late as Bangladesh fell short by six runs, reaching 134 for 7 in 20 overs.
Mahmudullah perishes as Tigers stare at defeat
Mahmudullah went straight over the bowlers head but is holed out at long on. With his departure, Scotland are well and truly on their way to a famous win.

Afif, Nurul depart with Tigers in trouble
Afif Hossain departs with Bangladesh needing 35 runs more from 15 deliveries. The left-hander tried to heave it across mid-wicket but managed to find the fielder as he departs for 18 off 12 deliveries. Nurul did not last long as he tried to find some quick runs next over.

Afif-Riyad look to take attack to Scotland
Afif Hossain and Mahmudullah Riyad had been looking to take the attack to the Scotland bowlers but the equation between runs required and balls remaining keep increasing. Afif played some good-looking shots to up the ante but Riyad has struggled to time his shots as Bangladesh reached 104 for four after 17 overs.
Scotland on top after taking Mushy's scalp
Scotland have turned the match firmly in their favour as they picked up the wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim, out bowled trying to scoop a Greaves delivery through fine leg. The Tigers had clawed back into the match with a 47-run stand between Mushfiqur and Shakib but wtih both set batters now back in the dugout, onus would fall on Mahmudullah Riyad to not only up the ante but also prevent further collapse.

Shakib departs as Tigers lose their third wicket
Scotland made the crucial breakthrough, picking up the wicket of Shakib Al Hasan as Tigers lost their third wicket in the 12th over. Shakib looked to free his hand and latched onto a shorter length delivery but the left-hander was not able to get the connection he wanted and was holed out at deep square-leg after a 28-ball 20. The Shakib-Mushy partnership had contributed 47 runs.

Mushy releases pressure with big over
Mushfiqur, who had been out of form, especially in T20s, found the boundary ropes twice, hitting sixes off successive deliveries to release the pressure that had been gathering. 18 runs came off the Michael Leask over as Bangladesh reached 52/2 2 after 9 overs, needing 89 runs more from 11 overs.
Tigers reach 25 for 2 in Powerplay after Liton and Soumya's departure
Bangladesh have two of their most experienced batters out in the middle in Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan but the duo have found it hard to get going in recent T20Is. Following the loss of two wickets, Shakib and Mushy played out the Powerplay as Bangladesh managed only 25.

Tigers in early trouble as Liton departs after Soumya
Bangladesh have lost opener Liton Das as well following the departure of Soumya Sarkar. Liton tried to whack a Brad Wheal delivery over mid off but only managed to give easy catching practice to Munsey as Tigers lost their second wicket.

Soumya departs early
Soumya Sarkar was promoted to the opening slot and came out with Liton Das to open the innings as the Tigers began their chase of Scotland's 140 for 9. He flayed a delivery on the leg side through square leg for four in the first over but when he tried the same shot in the second over off Davey, he found that a fielder had been placed there for just that shot. Tigers lose their first wicket as Soumya departs early.

Scotland reach 140 for 9 after Shakib becomes highest T20I wicket-taker
Scotland reached a challenging score of 140 for 9 in 20 overs against Bangladesh thanks to a 28-ball 45 from Chris Greaves. Mustafizur Rahman got two wickets in the last over, that of Greaves and Josh Davey to finish with two for 32 in his four overs.

Taskin breaks crucial partnership
Bangladesh broke the 51-run stand between Greaves and Watt as the latter failed to get the connection he wanted to a Taskin slower delivery and was holed out at the boundary.

Scotland recover after flurry of wickets
Following the departure of Calum MacLeod, Scotland's number seven batter Chris Greaves and number eight batter Mark Watt has managed to put on a considerably meaningful partnership to reach 87 for six after 15 overs. The 14th over, bowled by Mahedi, went for 12 runs before Fizz conceded 10 runs in the 15th over as Scotland found some momentum after a flurry of wickets.
Mahedi gets his third wicket
Mahedi Hasan has gotten another breakthrough as Scotland lose their sixth wicket. Macleod backed away to cut a slightly shorter delivery but the delivery snicks through and castles him.

Shakib gets double breakthrough to become leading T20I wicket taker
Shakib Al Hasan followed up on Mahedi Hasan's double breakthrough in the eighth over to bag two wickets in the 11th over with the scalps of Richie Berrington and Michael Leask to become the leading wicket-taker in T20Is with 108 wickets, going past Lasith Malinga's haul of of 107 wickets. The Tigers have the upper hand this game following the flurry of wickets.

Mahedi provides double breakthrough
Mahedi Hasan provided a double breakthrough including the important wicket of Munsey, who was beginning to cut loose as Bangladesh turned things around in the eighth over. Right-handed Matthew Cross looked to go across the line to a fuller delivery but missed the line completely. He missed but the delivery hit his back pad and the umpire raised his finger. Two deliveries later, an arm delivery from Mahedi snuck in to castle the dangerous Munsey as Bangladesh got two wickets from the Mahedi over. Next over, Taskin misses a dolly of a catch off Shakib's over, losing his footing at the crucial moment as a very eventful phase of the game ends.

Scotland accelerate to reach 39 for 1 after Powerplay
Scotland opener George Munsey was on fire at the death end of the Powerplay overs, dispatching Mustafizur for 13 runs with a four and a six in the sixth over as Scotland recovered from an early wicket to reach 39 for 1 after six overs.

Tigers keep Scotland on a tight leash early on
Bangladesh have kept Scotland in a tight leash at the start of the Group B qualifier match against Scotland. Taskin Ahmed conceded four in the first over before Mustafizur Rahman bowled a maiden to keep things tight in the second over.
Tigers to bowl in opening WC qualifier against Scotland
Bangladesh have won the toss and elected to bowl in their first round Group B match against Scotland at the Al Amerat Cricket Stadium in Muscat today.
Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is back for the Tigers following his IPL duties while skipper Mahmudullah Riyad has overcome his injury issues to be part of the playing eleven. Bangladesh have dropped Nasum Ahmed while pacers Mohammad Saifuddin and Taskin Ahmed will feature alongside Mustafizur Rahman.
"Looks like a good wicket, plenty of runs, but we would like to chase because of the dew," Mahmudullah said at the toss.
"We were happy either way," Kyle Coetzer says. "Happy to bat first. You put runs on the board, it creates pressure second half. There might be a bit of dew around, but we'll have to deal with that."
