Spain and Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal once again drew attention with the message on the headband he wore during the semifinal match during Spain’s 2-0 win over France in the 2026 FIFA World Cup semifinal in Dallas tonight.

The headband featured the inscriptions "08304" and "Rocafonda", a tribute to the neighbourhood in Mataró where Yamal grew up. The number 08304 was the area's postal code, while Rocafonda was the community the teenager proudly considered home.

Yamal made the tribute a regular part of his identity. He often celebrated goals by making the "304" sign with his fingers, referring to the final three digits of the postcode. He also had the number printed on his boots and other personal items as a reminder of his roots.

The Barcelona forward first attracted widespread attention with the celebration after scoring against Saudi Arabia at the World Cup, once again honouring the neighbourhood that played a key role in his journey to the top.

The Rocafonda headband was not the only message Yamal displayed during the tournament. Earlier, he wore another headband bearing the words "Ego Yamal", which was widely seen as a response to critics.

Already a European champion with Spain, Yamal continued to carry a piece of home with him wherever he played, using his headband as a simple but powerful tribute to the place where his football journey began.
