Taylor completes century; NZ reach 198 at lunch
Bangladesh began bowling brilliantly today, but two dropped catches cost them the desperately-sought early breakthrough as Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor put together a fantastic 172-run partnership, both completing half-centuries on the way. Williamson, who appeared to have hurt his shoulder, did eventually depart after a 105-ball 74 as he returned a catch straight to Taijul Islam. However, that was the only wicket to fall and Ross Taylor completed a very agressive hundred off just 97 balls and hosts break for lunch at 198 for three.
The Kiwis rode on early luck, especially Ross Taylor, who was dropped twice on 20 in the same over by Mahmudullah Riyad and then Shadman Islam respectively off the bowling of Abu Jayed Rahi. Taylor grabbed the opportunity with both hands to secure his 18th Test ton with Kiwis dominating proceedings. The runs came thick and fast with Taylor causing more havoc after reaching his 50. He hit Taijul for six to bring up his ton off just 97 deliveries, his innings laced with 15 fours and three sixes as New Zealand went to lunch trailing Bangladesh's first innings score by just 13 runs.
