Gymnasts Utingwang, Mention enter into World Junior Ranking

Country’s two promising gymnasts Utingwang Marma and Menton Toni Mro entered into the world ranking when they finished 21st and 23rd in their respective events of 3rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships being held in Manila, Philippines.

Bangladesh's two promising gymnasts, Utingwang Marma and Menton Toni Mro, have entered the World Junior Rankings after finishing 21st and 23rd respectively in their events at the 3rd FIG Artistic Gymnastics Junior World Championships in Manila, Philippines.

Among 128 competitors, Utingwang secured 21st place in the qualification round of the Men's Vault, scoring 12.95 -- just 0.566 points behind Germany's Even McPhillips, who claimed the eighth and final qualification spot with 13.516 on Thursday.

This information was confirmed to The Daily Star by Bangladesh Gymnastics Federation (BGF) General Secretary Habibur Rahman from Manila on Friday.

Meanwhile, Menton finished 23rd out of 128 gymnasts in the qualification round of the Men's Pommel Horse, scoring 12.600 -- 0.800 points shy of Japan's Eijun Yasui, who took the last final berth with 13.400.

BGF general secretary Habib also informed that Bangladesh placed 36th among 74 teams in the team event.
