‘We got what we needed out of the game’
Bangladesh defeated to Kyrgyzstan U-23 team 1-0 in the opening match of the Three Nations Cup at Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal today. Bangladesh would need a draw against Nepal on March 27 to make the final of the tournament.
Jamie Day made three changes with center-back Habibur Rahman Shohag, left-back Rimon Hossain and forward Mehedi Hasan Royal making their debuts in the opening match of Three Nations Cup and Jamie was happy with the performance overall.
"We wanted a clean sheet so that's good. We know we have to be better in possession of the ball and not give away too many passes. We got to see some of the players that haven't played before so it was a good test for us. We got what we needed out of the game and pleased with the boys," Day said in a press conference.
Bangladesh were presented with a goal in the 30th minute as Biplo Ahmed snatched the ball away from defender Kumabrajuulu Baiaman and fed Saad Uddin in the right flank and the Abahani player raced into the box to muster a fierce square-pass for Biplo. Baiaman intercepted but drove it into his own net attempting to clear the ball.
